Chelsea kicked off this season just how they finished last year and their unstoppable run doesn’t look likely to come to an end any time soon.
But who currently holds the longest unbeaten streak in the WSL?
Longest unbeaten run in the WSL
It doesn’t come as much of a surprise that Chelsea are in fact chasing yet another of their own records.
The Blues went unbeaten in the WSL during an incredible run that lasted just under two years between February 10th, 2019 and January 31st, 2021.
That unbeaten streak lasted a total of 33 league games for Chelsea.
During the run, the Blues won both the 2019/20 and 2020/21 WSL, losing just one game in what was the most dominant English women’s team in history.
The only loss handed to Chelsea across those two years came at the hands of Brighton. The Seagulls caused one of the biggest upsets of the year as they managed a 2-1 win despite having just 23% possession and two shots on target.
Emma Hayes’ side is widely regarded as one of the best in WSL history after going the whole 2017/18 season without a loss.

The Blues repeated that feat under Hayes in 2019/20, however with Covid-19 cutting the league short after 15 games it can’t be considered a full unbeaten campaign.
Chelsea’s current unbeaten streak
While she has a lot of league titles to win before catching up to Emma Hayes, Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor has already achieved something that her predecessor couldn’t manage.
Last season Chelsea went unbeaten in a full 22 game campaign as the club lifted their eighth WSL title.

That unbeaten run is actually still active and Bompastor’s team is slowly closing in on the club’s own sensational record.
With their last loss in the league coming to Liverpool on the 1st of May, 2024, Chelsea haven’t lost a WSL game in 26 fixtures.
The loss was a damning 4-3 defeat with Gemma Bonner scoring a 92nd minute winner for the Reds to serve Chelsea just their third defeat in the 2023/24 campaign.
Having gone 26 games unbeaten, the Blues are unsurprisingly short favourites with UK betting sites to lift their ninth title this season.
Chelsea have a fairly easy upcoming schedule but interestingly they take on Arsenal in what would be their 33rd unbeaten game in a row (should they make it that far).
That added incentive will definitely give Arsenal more to play for and the fixture on November 8th could be one of the best this season at the Emirates Stadium.
