Ffion Morgan praises teammates after debut
Morgan made her debut for the Hammers as an early substitute with West Ham beating Slavia Prague on Sunday.
Speaking after the game, the striker credited her new ‘special’ teammates for welcoming her to the club.
“I’m just trying to get connections with the girls, whether that’s in training or on the field when we’re playing against other teams. I’m just getting used to linking up with them,” she said. “It was fun!”
“They’ve all spent extra time getting to know me and me, so it’s a really special group with lovely, lovely girls.”
West Ham can take a lot of confidence out of their first pre-season game this summer, with Slavia Prague qualified for the Champions League this season.

While Morgan didn’t score in the pre-season clash, she looked threatening during her time on the pitch.
“It was a good test for us,” she said. “They’re a Champions League team, they’re raring to go, so it was a good physical test in the heat as well. We held our own and came out with a win, so we’re really happy.
“It was a quick change, but [Rehanne said to] just go on, do what I can, and then we came off at half-time and it was more structured then. I was really happy to get on and show what I could do.”
Morgan replaced Seraina Piubel just before half time with the Swiss midfielder suffering from a knock.
West Ham’s newest recruit has played one season in England’s top flight, scoring just one goal in 22 appearances for Bristol City in 2023/24.
The Hammers kick off their WSL campaign on September 7th against London rivals Tottenham.
