The Netherlands have announced their full new coaching team after Women’s Euro 2025, led by England assistant manager Arjan Veurink.

Veurink replaces Andries Joncker as head coach of the Dutch national team, after four successful years with the Lionesses.

He was by Sarina Wiegman’s side for both their Euro 2022 and 2025 successes.

It was known before Euro 2025 that Veurink would leave England and step up to a head coach role with his native Netherlands after the tournament.

The Netherlands were knocked out of the group stage of Euro 2025, and Veurink will be keen to turn around their fortunes going into the 2027 Women’s World Cup.

Meanwhile, UK betting sites have made the Netherlands sixth-favourites to win Euro 2029 at odds of 12/1.

England are second behind Spain in the odds at a price of 3/1.

Who joins Arjan Veurink on the Netherlands’ coaching team?

Former men’s footballer Martijn Reuser joins the Netherlands coaching team alongside Arjan Veurink, as their new assistant manager.

As a player, he represented the likes of Ajax, Ipswich Town, Vitesse and Willem II. He also made one appearance for the senior Dutch team in 1998.

During his coaching career, he has worked with Ajax and various men’s youth teams for the Netherlands.

Roos Kwakkenbos will also become an assistant manager after her work as head coach for the U19 women’s team.

She played for a number of Dutch clubs during her playing career and in 2022, became the first Dutch woman to receive the international UEFA Goalkeeper Coach A diploma.

They will be joined by performance coach Iwan Redan, who also represented several Dutch clubs during his playing career.

Rudak has worked as a performance coach at RKC Waalwijk and also men’s national teams for Suriname and Aruba.

Why Arjan Veurink has decided to leave Lionesses to become Netherlands head coach

Arjan Veurink said that becoming the head coach of the Netherlands is the “logical next step” in his career.

He has worked alongside Sarina Wiegman for eight years, after also being her assistant with the Netherlands, before she left for the Lionesses.

Veurink said earlier this year: “This is not only a great challenge and a wonderful new adventure, it also feels like a logical next step in my career.

“I never made a secret of the fact that one day I wanted to be the manager of the Dutch national team.

“With over eight years of experience at the very highest level as Sarina Wiegman’s right-hand man, first with the Netherlands and now in England, I am ready to stand on my own two feet.

“The fact that this opportunity has just arisen in the Netherlands makes it extra special. I will now first do everything possible to finish the coming months in England in style.”

Who replaces Veurink at England?

The Lionesses confirmed earlier this year that Janneke Bijl and Arvid Smit have been appointed as assistant coaches to fill the void of Arjan Veurink.

They head in the opposite direction of Veurink, after working together as part of the Dutch national set-up.

Wiegman said: “I’m delighted to add Janneke and Arvid to our coaching staff. They both have significant coaching experience at national-team level. This will be vital to our mission of qualifying for the 2027 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

“The bar is being raised with every tournament. We need the very best approach if we are going to continue challenging the top teams.

“As well as the quality they will bring to our training sessions and match planning, I have real trust in how they work and how they can complement the rest of the technical team and our environment. I know they are excited by the challenge ahead. I am sure the players will also enjoy working with them.”
