England and Netherlands team news
Sarina Wiegman may ring the changes following defeat to France, but the core of England’s team is likely to stay the same.
The likes of Niamh Charles, Grace Clinton and Ella Toone are all pushing for a place in the starting XI after making positive impressions off the bench.
Toone could be the most likely to earn a start in place of Lauren James, with her absence a slight surprise against France.
The Netherlands are unlikely to make many changes following their win over Wales and it would be no surprise to see Andries Jonker name an unchanged starting lineup.
England Predicted Lineup: Hampton; Bronze, Williamson, Greenwood, Carter; Stanway, Walsh, Toone; Mead, Hemp, Russo
Netherlands Predicted Lineup: Van Domselaar; Casparij, Janssen, Buurman, Brugts; Groenen, Van de Donk, Kaptein; Pelova, Roord, Miedema
England vs Netherlands prediction
The situation for England in their second game at the Euros is simple, they have to win, with any other result likely to see the team eliminated before the knockouts have even begun.
Losing to France in matchday one certainly wasn’t part of the Lionesses plans this summer but some of the players have already come out to express their confidence in the squad following the shock defeat.
With their tournament and title defence on the line against the Netherlands on Wednesday, Sarina Wiegman will be hoping that her team has more fight in them in what is another difficult game in the ‘group of death’.
The Dutch aren’t ranked as high as France in the official FIFA Rankings but there is only one spot separating the nations who play at a similar level to England’s first opponents.
Vivianne Miedema netted her 100th international goal for the Netherlands in their first game at the Euros against Wales and the 3-0 win saw her side go top of Group D on goal difference.

Although the Netherlands looked good against Wales, England will be a much more competitive side and with their place at Euro 2025 under threat, here at SheKicks we think the Lionesses might edge a high-scoring affair.
England vs Netherlands prediction: England 3-1 Netherlands – 12/1

England vs Netherlands Betting tips
- England vs Netherlands betting tip 1: England to win & both teams to score @ 13/5
The Lionesses are one of the most experienced teams at Euro 2025 this summer and despite losing to France on matchday one, it is clear that the whole team is ready to put the defeat behind them.
With that being said, England have to win on Wednesday afternoon to keep their tournament hopes alive.
We believe that Sarina Wiegman’s team has what it takes to edge past the Netherlands in what should be a fiercely competitive game and with their backs against the wall, the Lionesses can produce some of their best form.
Their loss against France was just England’s third defeat of the year, with the other two coming against the World Champions in Spain and a shock to Belgium in the Nations League.
Following both the other previous defeats in 2025, the Lionesses bounced back in emphatic fashion, with a 6-0 win over Portugal and a 7-0 win over Jamaica immediately after the respective losses.
The Netherlands are much more likely to put up a fight this week though and while we think England will win, the Dutch certainly won’t make things easy for them.
Both teams have scored in eight of the Netherlands last ten games. In the head to head matchup, both teams have scored in the previous three meetings.
- England vs Netherlands betting tip 2: Alessia Russo to score anytime @7/4
After being so cruelly denied a goal for offside against France, we are backing Alessia Russo to net her first of the tournament against the Netherlands.
There was plenty of controversy following Russo’s disallowed finish and former officials even called for a rule change after her Arsenal teammate, Beth Mead, was flagged for being a matter of millimetres past the defender during the buildup.

Russo, much like England, will be keen to move on from the disappointing first game and we have no doubt that she can get back on track in an all-important second match.
The 26-year-old won the golden boot in the WSL last season with 12 goals in 22 games for Arsenal.
With 23 goals in 52 appearances for the Lionesses there is no doubt that Russo provides one of the biggest threats for England and in a game where the front line needs to step up, Russo should be right in the mix of things once more.
England & Netherlands Euro 2025 odds
After their first loss of the tournament, England’s outright odds for Euro 2025 took a big hit. The Lionesses are now priced at 7/1 to win the tournament and 8/11 to qualify for the knockouts according to the best UK football betting sites.
Despite winning their first game against Wales, the Netherlands are still yet to face the two biggest powerhouses of Group D and as a result they remain 25/1 to win a second European Championship this summer.
