Ahead of Euro 2025, England superstar Georgia Stanway has revealed that the Lionesses will be the ones paying for their families to head over to Switzerland for the tournament.
Travelling to this summer’s tournament may cost fans a pretty penny with England playing in some of the most expensive cities not only in Europe, but in the world.
The Lionesses will play in Zurich and St. Gallen during a busy group stage and with Zurich ranking number one on the cost of living index for 2025 it could be a pricey month for England fans.
While it may be more expensive to watch the women at this year’s Euros, the tournament in Switzerland should have much more home support in the stadiums than they did at the 2023 World Cup which was hosted much further away in Australia and New Zealand.

During the Lionesses warm up camp this month, the players are based at St. Georges Park where they will complete media duties as well as prepare for the upcoming tournament.
In the players’ first media day, England and Bayern Munich midfielder Georgia Stanway revealed that the team themselves will be paying for their families to come and show their support in Switzerland this year.
“I’m aware that Switzerland is a very expensive country,” Stanway said. “Even just for flights and hotels. The cost of living there is extremely high so we understand the demand on fans.
“That is difficult for us as well because we want to help and support as much as possible, even with our own families.”
The 26-year-old added: “A lot of us are putting our hands in our pockets to make sure that our families can get over there. We would love to see as many fans as possible and we want to thank them in advance because we know it’s not cheap.”
There was never any doubt that the midfielder would make Sarina Wiegman’s England squad this summer on merit alone, but as she recovered from an LCL injury some feared Euro 2025 would come too soon for Stanway.
But the Lioness was able to recover in time for the tournament and after returning to the pitch in May, she is sure to start again for England next month.

If Stanway and England play like they did at Euro 2022 this summer then the trip will be worth every penny for the families heading over.
Stanway netted one of the most important goals of the tournament when England won the Euros three years ago, scoring the winner in extra time of the semi final as the Lionesses edged past Spain.
