The Queen’s Birthday Honours list included Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) awards for Sara Booth and Jess Fishlock.

Both were honoured for services to women’s football, while Jess Fishlock’s work for the LGBT community was also recognised.

Fishlock, who last year became the first Welsh footballer (male or female) to win 100 caps for her country, posted on Twitter: ‘Extremely happy, humble & proud to be recognised with this honour. Thanks to everyone who has supported me along the way.’
