Linfield regained the NIFL Danske Bank Women’s Premiership pole position with a 6-3 success at Cliftonville on Wednesday.

Hannah Grieve gave Cliftonville the lead but Linfield were 2-1 after 15 minutes, as Kirsty McGuinness profited from a defensive mix up and Chloe McCarron found the net with a fine strike.

Abbie Magee got the visitors’ third goal and Megan Bell made it 4-1 by the break.

Amber Dempster scored the hosts’ second but McGuinness and Hannah Docherty added late goals to seal the points before Chloe Orr got another one back for Cliftonville.

Crusaders Strikers lost the leadership after being held 1-1 in their first home game by Sion Swifts.

Aimee Mackin fired the Swifts in front with just 9 minutes played, hitting a rocket of a shot into the top corner.

Celine Curtis equalised 3 minutes before half time with a half volley on the edge of the box to rescue a point for Strikers.

Glentoran gained their first win with a 5-1 scoreline against Derry City.

The Glens were two goals in front within 8 minutes as Kelly Bailie pierced the middle of the Derry defence to open the scoring, then a deflection of City’s Shannon Dunne made it 2-0.

A bullet header from Makyla Mulholland at the back post further extended the advantage and Aoife Lennon added the fourth when profiting from goalkeeper Naomh Barr’s fumble on a cross.

Rachel Rogan added a fifth just after the hour minutes before Derry got a consolation through Rachel Barnaby.
