Norton & Stockton Ancients secured the North East League title on Wednesday with a 6-0 victory at fourth-placed Farsley Celtic.

Needing only to avoid defeat to be crowned champions ahead of Durham Cestria, they got a 15th-minute goal through Vicki Burton to calm any nerves.

Shannon Reed and Nyci Thorns extended the lead to 3-0 by the break, with further goals coming in the final 15 minutes.

Thorns got her second, with Kate McSorley and Chelsea Bell also on target.

Norton previously made a brief appearance in the FAWPL during season 2014/15 and are the eighth and final Regional League champions to be confirmed who will compete in the National League next term.

Already promoted were; Bedworth United, Billericay Town, Buckland Athletic, Burnley, Chesham United, Crawley Wasps and Nettleham.
