Regional League Round-Up

Tranmere Rovers went top in the North West Premier, while four other league leaders dropped points when pegged back by AFC Phoenix, Manchester Stingers, Royston Town and Stockingford AA Pavilion.

EASTERN – Royston hold leaders

PREMIER – Royston Town became only the second side to deny leaders Billericay Town a win, holding them 3-3 with a brace by Gemma Croucher and one from substitute Francesca Smithers. Cambridge City climbed to third with a 2-0 result over Colney Heath, Isabella Simmons and Anna Wilson getting the goals. AFC Dunstable sub Samara Khan got the decider in a 3-2 victory at AFC Sudbury that lifted them into fourth. Bedford went ahead of Acle United on goal-difference after defeating them 3-1 and Brentwood Town thrashed Lowestoft Town 8-0 in the basement battle, Georgia Holdaway leading the way with a hat-trick.

1 NORTH – Kings Lynn Town won 4-0 against Ipswich Wanderers in the top of the table clash, to move 4 points clear. Wymondham Town inflicted Histon’s first defeat with an 8-2 scoreline of which Nadine Basson netted three. Silver End United got off the mark 2-0 at home to Ipswich Town Development, with Stephanie Allen and Angela Holden on target.

1 SOUTH – Second-placed Little Thurrock Dynamos made it four straight wins with a 4-0 defeat of Hertford Town. Hutton are third after Kaitlin Sugg got both goals against Hoddesdon Town Owls.

EAST MIDLANDS – Nettleham keep narrow advantage

PREMIER – Nettleham stayed top on goal-difference with a 5-1 win over Arnold Town, including two from Tia Johnson. Leicester City WD are just 2 goals behind after a 6-0 result at Kettering Town, where Gabriella Reid got half their tally. Oughtibridge remained 3 points off the top two by winning 2-1 at Ollerton Town with a Becky Shaw decider. Peterborough Northern Star ran out 6-1 winners over Rise Park, with two apiece for Louise Barbour, Vicky Gallagher and Cassie Steward. Grace Stanley got all three goals for Loughborough Students but visitors Mansfield Town netted four, two from Androulle Kokkinou. Mansfield Hosiery Mills drew 1-1 with Eastwood even thought they had Claire Stringer sent off with 20 minutes left.

1 NORTH – Hykeham Town went 2 points clear at the top with a 4-1 victory at Drayton Victoria. Lincoln Moorlands Railway had to settle for a 2-2 home draw with Sleaford, Lauren Churcher getting their 88th-minute equaliser after Joanne Wilson struck twice for the away side. Calverton MW became only the second side to deny Woodlands a win, thanks to a second half leveller at 2-2. Arnold Town Development’s Emilly Yeboah Obeng got both goals to tie 2-2 with Grimsby Borough, for whom Phoebe Kinsdale scored twice. Market Warsop went above Teversal after beating them with the best of five goals.

1 SOUTH –  Oadby & Wigston Dynamo are the new leaders following a 3-0 win at Thrapston Town, where Samantha Hargrave hit two. Northampton Town’s first loss came 3-2 at home to Corby Town, for whom Laura Dodwell was on target twice. Peterborough United hit Heather 5-2, including a double from Keir Perkins. AFC Leicester came away from Corby S&L 2-1 winners, while Desford and Loughborough Foxes Vixens shared 6 goals.

LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Phoenix end Wasps’ 100% record

PREMIER – It was second versus first as AFC Phoenix ended Crawley Wasps perfect start with a goal from Helen Bellfield, Lauren Callaghan getting on the scoresheet for the leaders.

CUP GROUP A – Watford Development’s ten lost 9-0 at home to Carshalton Athletic and Fulham had a walkover at Camden Town. GROUP B – London Kent Football United’s Emily Hart got two goals in a 5-1 win at Ashford, Corri. Goodhew also netted twice as Parkwood Rangers saw off Eastbourne Town 3-0.

GREATER LONDON PREMIER – QPR Development stretched their lead to 5 points with as many goals past Ragents Park Rangers, Rhian O’Hare and Chloe Sampson both contributing twice. Hampstead overturned a two-goal deficit to beat Spurs Development with one each for Samantha Dowd, Iselin Kvamme and Shani Minors. Whyteleafe got four first-half goals in a 5-0 result over AFC Wimbledon Development. Hackney let a 2-0 interval advantage slip at Hemel Hempstead Town, Amy Nicholson’s brace cancelled out by efforts from Lorna Gover and Natasha McConville. Colne Valley and Victoire are both on 4 points after a 4-4 draw in which Nailah Nisbeth netted two for the visitors.

SOUTH EAST COUNTIES PREMIER – Kent Football United’s 4-0 win at Ashford sent them 3 points clear at the top, Chloe Francis with all four goals and one player from each side receiving a second caution. Meridian banked a first win at Bexhill United with singles from Zara Roots and Amy Russ. Crawley Wasps Reserves are being caught up by Eastbourne Ladies, who beat them 3-1 away. and Hassocks won by a similar margin at Herne Bay.

NORTH EAST – Cestria go clear

PREMIER – Durham Cestria are 3 points ahead of the rest having walloped Wakefield 9-0. Norton & Stockton Ancients are second on goal-difference following a 6-1 success at East Yorkshire Carnegie, with braces by Amy Mawston and Nyci Thorns. RACA Tynedale went above Farsley Celtic by beating them 4-3 away, while Hartlepool United claimed a first win, Sarah Rowbotham with a couple in the 5-2 result at York City.

NORTHERN – South Shields went ahead of York Railway Institute into second when sending them to a first defeat by seven goals to nil. Consett and Boldon finished 1-1, Stephanie Curry for the hosts, Alison Ferris for Villa. Prudhoe Town’s Katy Hemmingway scored twice as they got off the mark with a 5-0 defeat of Guisborough.

SOUTHERN – Sheffield Wednesday’s Emily Darwin was red-carded in the goalless draw with Doncaster Belles. Charlotte Gough was on target in Ossett Albion’s 1-1 draw with Harrogate Railway, Nicola Hadley scoring for the away team.

NORTH WEST – Tranmere takeover at top

PREMIER – Merseyrail Bootle lost their 100% record, leadership and almost suffered a first loss too but got a late leveller to deny Manchester Stingers victory in a 4-4 draw, Bet Langford got a brace for the visitors. Tranmere’s 2-1 result over third-placed Fleetwood Town Wrens put Rovers in pole position. Burnley beat Accrington Ladies 4-0 to go fourth and there was a first win for Blackpool as Lily Hambly got a hat-trick in the 5-2 defeat of CMB.

1 NORTH – Penrith were pegged back as visitors Kendal Town surprisingly held them 2-2 with two second-half goals, the leaders therefore losing their first points. Cammell Laird moved within 5 points of the top with a 3-0 result at Morecambe Reserves. Carlisle United are playing catch up with the fixtures but won for the first time, 6-1 over Preston North End, with braces by Kerri Mallinson and Carly Stevenson.

1 SOUTH – Six in a row now for FC United and 7 points clear after beating Curzon Ashton 4-1 in the top-two clash. But they had to come from behind with a Rebecca Foster hat-trick after Amy Smith converted an early penalty for Curzon. Warrington Wolverines went fourth with both goals in the game at Stockport County Blues.

ARGYLE SPORTS CUP 1ST ROUND – Stockport County eased through 8-0 away at Bury, with three each for Chloe Mapp and Grace Wardle.

SOUTHERN  Chesham win nine-goal thriller

PREMIER – Gemma Fraser was again among the goals for Chesham United, as they edged a nine-goal thriller at Oxford City to go 5 points clear. Second-placed Ascot United lost out to the only goal at home to Winchester City Flyers, scored by Bryony Morrell. Milton Keynes City are level on pints with Ascot after a 5-1 win at Team Solent, Katie Crawley featuring with a treble. Two goals from Olivia Jones saw New Milton Town to a 2-1 victory over Shanklin.

1 NORTH – Barton Rovers moved clear at the top with three first-half goals at Woodley United, two of those from Amie Benton. Wokingham & Emmbrook also led 3-0 at Benson Lionesses by the break but Alice Lilley’s double helped toward an eventual five-goal margin of victory.

1 SOUTH – Leaders AFC Bournemouth won 5-0 at Eastleigh with two from Chloe Tape, while Warsash Wasps went second with a similar scoreline at Alton, where Megan Fox’s treble was added to by an Isabel Molyneux-O’Callaghan double. Winchester City Flyers Reserves banked their first points in a 6-1 result at Fleet Town, two goals apiece for Elizabeth Reid and Lauren Townsend.

SOUTH WEST – Seven up for Wootton Bassett

PREMIER – Marine Academy Plymouth moved ahead at the summit with a 3-1 at Forest Green Rovers, where Sam Drewery got two. Torquay United are up to second with four unanswered goals at Keynsham Town Development, Sian Chapman notching a hat-trick. Bishops Lydeard and Exeter City drew 1-1, allowing Buckland Athletic to gain ground when sinking Yeovil Town Intermediate 7-0, while Ilminster Town defeated Downend Flyers 3-0.

EASTERN – Seven wins in a row now for Wootton Bassett Town, Beth Westlake with all goals in a 4-1 win at Chippenham. Third-placed Almondsbury beat St Nicholas Reserves 2-0, Swindon Town Development’s Kathryn Bach got a second-half brace in the 3-0 victory at Frome Town. Civil Service won the Cheltenham derby 3-2 at Town Development, with two by Gemma Riley. Fran Dalton levelled to earn Oldland Abbotonians a 1-1 draw with Team Mendip and Portishead had a walkover against Swindon Spitfires.

WESTERN – Bideford also had a walkover at home to Newquay Celtic, while the weather accounted for the division’s other games.

WEST MIDLANDS – Two goals between South’s top three

PREMIER – Crusaders just held onto the leadership on goal-difference from Leafield Athletic after losing for the first time, 3-2 at Stockingford AA Pavilion, for whom Amanda Turnbull scored twice. Bedworth are now within a point of them too, having won 4-0 away to Worcester United. Kingshurst Sporting Club won 5-0 at Lye Town, while Wolverhampton Sporting sent Coundon Court to a 3-0 defeat.

1 NORTH – Wyrley went second with a 6-3 score over Tamworth. Shrewsbury Town stormed to an 8-1 win at Bilbrook, Tania Prior on target three times. Brereton Town had to get the best of 11 goals with only 10 players to claim a first victory at Atherstone Rangers, Stacey Arrowsmith getting half of their total. Florence doubled their points total when holding Shrewsbury Juniors 3-3.

1 SOUTH – Just a couple of goals separate the top three, after Redditch United replaced Gornal Athletic in first by hitting them for six – four of those from Ellie Gerhold – and Solihull United managed an 8-2 defeat of Coventry Development. Rugby Town narrowly got the better of Droitwich Spa 5-4, despite injuries leaving them a player short after the interval, Solihull Sporting lost 2-0 at home to Coventry Sphinx and a there was a home loss for Stourbridge, beaten 2-1 by Kidderminster Harriers.
