West Ham Ladies Win At Worthing

West Ham came safely through their goodmove.co.uk Cup tie at Worthing last night, to set up a quarter-final trip to Margate.

The invitational competition run by the Isthmian League had paired the south coast side with visitors from three divisions up the pyramid but Worthing, who are second in the South East Counties Premier, limited the Hammers to a two-goal winning margin.

Both those goals did come in the opening 17 minutes though, as Molly Peters slotted home on 8 minutes and then Amber Keegan-Stobbs met a through ball from Andria Georgiou with a clinical finish.

Stobbs then hit the crossbar from a long-range free-kick and after the break Rosie Kmita was denied by a point-blank save from Worthing goalkeeper Leah Samain, who also kept out Mollie Kmita’s volley.

A combination of keeper and bar prevented left-back Jasmine Auguste from adding a third goal late on.

West Ham now go to Margate in a last-eight tie, expected to progress further as their hosts are bottom of the division beneath Worthing.

Charlton Athletic even had a five-division advantage on their 1st Round opponents and posted a huge 22-0 victory over Tonbridge Angels a fortnight ago.

The Addicks will now entertain either Harlow Town or Enfield Town, who meet tonight.
