Anna Signeul Appointed To IFAB Panel

The International Football Association Board is the universal decision-making body for the Laws of the Game of association football. It is comprised of the four British football associations (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland), holding one vote each, with FIFA holding four votes, reports scottishfa.co.uk.

The appointment will see Signeul sit on the Football Advisory Panel (FAP), consisting of former players, coaches, managers and referees from across the world.

The FAP represents the main stakeholders in football and provides IFAB with additional perspectives and expertise for the decision-making process.

The panel was formed in 2014 following a comprehensive revision of IFAB’s organisation, structure and decision-making processes associated with changing the Laws of the Game.

Meeting twice a year, the FAP has so far proven to provide significant support to the consultation process for the IFAB.

Anna’s appointment was recommended by Scottish FA Chief Executive Stewart Regan in recognition of her commitment to football both in Scotland and across the globe.

“I am delighted to be appointed to the Football Advisory Panel and to be in a position where I can influence the future of the laws of football,” said Anna Signeul.

“Throughout my career I have dedicated myself to advancing the game, particularly in growing women’s football, and I am pleased that I will now have the opportunity to improve the game through innovation to its laws.

“I am extremely grateful to Stewart Regan for recommending me to be appointed to this prestigious panel and I look forward to starting work with them.”
